ILO : AN IDENTITY CRISIS

The philosophy behind the creation is to empower workmen to the extent they will not be bullied by employer. All those conventions are aimed to the betterment of the live of workmen.

Beware of the consequences, if we try too hard to implement policies to met the requirements of those rectified conventions and we are moving towards a partnership rather than a better standards of employment contracts. This is one of the reasons why employer opt to engage in other form of relationship such as independent contractor, freelancer, out-sourced amongst other.

This will shrink the labour market, thus ending employment as one of the major way of making ends meat. Lesser work will resulted in lesser ways to find money and those who are desperate will turn to crime.

So for those policy maker, be careful on your works. Draw up policies that will create more jobs rather than trying too hard to met ILO's conventions requirements that maybe we actually read it the wrong way and interpret it wrongly.
